Nadal handed difficult draw for French Open swansong

14-time French Open Champion Rafael Nadal faces a difficult first round tie against German Alexander Zverev. 27-year-old fourth seed Zverev is one of the favourites for the title after winning the Italian Open last week.

Nadal has accumulated an incredible 22 Grand Slams over his career but the clay at Roland Garros has always been his favourite surface. He announced that this will be his last year in tennis and is hoping to add one more French Open crown to his trophy cabinet.

The great Spaniard has been in mixed form since returning from injury earlier this year. At the age of 37 a victory at the 2024 French Open will be his best achievement of his illustrious career.

Two-time Wimbledon Champion Andy Murray has also confirmed he will retire this year. He has not played on the clay in Paris since 2017 but will compete this year for the final time. Murray will play fellow veteran Stan Wawrinka.

Defending Champion and World No.1 Novak Djokovic will start his campaign against French wildcard Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
