British No.2 Cameron Norrie delivered a shock victory over World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz at the Paris Masters on Tuesday. Norrie recovered from losing the first set to win the contest 4-6 6-3 6-4.
Norrie hailed the win as the biggest of his career. After losing in straight sets to the Spaniard in last year’s ويمبلدون quarter-finals, he was considered by many to be a big underdog ahead of the match. Nevertheless, he demonstrated plenty of grit and quality tennis to secure his place in the last 16.
Alcaraz registered an uncharacteristic 54 unforced errors in the match and was playing for the first time since beating Taylor Fritz in the Japan Open at the end of September. He has recently suffered an ankle injury and he will be hoping to regain his form & fitness ahead of the ATP Finals next month.
