Ruud beats Tsitsipas to win Barcelona title

Casper Ruud won the biggest event of his career on Sunday as he beat Stefanos Tsitsipas to win the Barcelona Open in straight sets 7-5 6-3.

It is the first time he has won an ATP 500 ranked event. The Norwegian is now ranked at sixth in the world.

The win was sweet revenge for the Rudd who lost to his Greek opponent only one week ago in the Monte-Carlo Masters final. Tsitsipas was enjoying a 10-match winning streak until his defeat against Ruud.

The tour now heads to the Madrid Open where Wimbledon Champion Carlos Alcaraz is hoping to return from injury to defend his crown he won last year in the Spanish capital.
