Draper storms into US Open semi-finals

British No.1 Jack Draper reached his first Grand Slam semi-final on Wednesday beating Alex de Minaur in straight sets at the US Open. The 22-year-old showed incredible athleticism and eagerness against his Australian opponent to win the match 6-3 7-5 6-2.

It was Draper’s first time playing on the iconic Arthur Ashe Stadium and his win means he is the first British player to reach the semi-finals in New York since Andy Murray in 2012. He will now play the world No.1 Jannik Sinner on Friday for a place in the final.

Draper’s incredible run at Flushing Meadows has similarities to fellow Brit, Emma Raducanu’s US Open glory in 2021. Like Raducanu, Draper has also reached the semi-finals without losing a set.
