Amanda Anisimova avenged her brutal Wimbledon Final defeat against Iga Swiatek by knocking out the Pole in the quarterfinals of the US Open.
The American suffered a crushing loss on Centre Court in July to Swiatek 6-0 6-0, which was the first double bagel in a Wimbledon woman’s final for over 100 years. However, Anisimova managed to banish some of her demons with a fine victory at Flushing Meadows 6-4 -6-3.
Her reward is a semi-final clash against 2018 & 2020 Champion Naomi Osaka. Japanese star Osaka bidding to win her fifth major title and has been in impressive form in the tournament so far.
In the other woman’s semi-final defending champion & World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka will play American Jessica Pegula. This leaves to door open to a potential all-American final.
