Often referred to as the ‘Fifth Major’ the Indian Wells Open is one of the most anticipated tournaments of the tennis season. The event takes place in the Californian desert and is the first ATP 1000 tournament of the year.
The men’s draw will be without World No.1 Jannik Sinner who is suspended until May due to drug disciplinary charge. This will give Carlos Alcaraz a great opportunity to claim a third successive Indian Wells. The Wimbledon Champion won his first event of 2025 last month at the Rotterdam Open.
The woman’s draw will likely be a battle between the two best players in the world at the moment. Defending Champion Iga Swiatek will be aiming to become the fist back-to-back winner since Martina Navratilova since 1991. World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka will be hoping to bounce back from disappointing outings in Qatar & Dubai to win the title.
American Madison Keys will also be one of the contenders after claiming her first Grand Slam at the Australian Open in January.
