Grand Slam season has officially started as the first major tournament of the year gets underway in Melbourne. The Australian Open with be the first opportunity for the world’s best players to claim Grand Slam glory in 2026.
Defending Men’s & Ladies Champions Jannik Sinner & Madison Keys will be hoping to retain their crowns down under.
Sinner will undoubtably be keeping tabs on his rival and World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz. The pair contested three of the four major finals in 2025. It is difficult to look past either man as favourites for the title this year.
Madison Keys beat World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka in the final last year. Sabalenka won the previous Grand Slam at the US Open in September and will be amongst the favourites to claim her third title in Melbourne.
World No.2 Iga Swiatek is bidding to complete the career Grand Slam. The Pole has already won titles at the French Open, US Open & Wimbledon Championships. If she can go all the way at the Australian Open she will secure a place in tennis history.
