Raducanu off the mark at the Madrid Open

Emma Raducanu is through to the second round of the Madrid Open with an impressive straight sets victory over Suzan Lamens 7-6 6-4.

The former US Open Champion took a break after reaching the quarter finals of the Miami Open last month. Her return in Madrid secured her first victory on an outdoor clay court in three years. Raducanu is continuing her partnership with former coach of Andy Murray, Mark Petchey. It is understood to be an informal agreement for the foreseeable future.

The British No.2 will now face Marta Kostyuk in the second round.
