Sinner & Sabalenka rule in New York

Jannik Sinner & Aryna Sabalenka won the final Grand Slam of the year at Flushing Meadows in New York.

Sabalenka avenged previous heartaches in New York to finally capture a maiden US Open crown. The Belarusian beat Jesica Pegula 7-5 7-5 to continue her dominance on the hard court. The 26-year-old is now in a race with Iga Swiatek finish the year as World No.1.

Jannik Sinner won his second major title of the year adding the US Open to his Australian crown he won in January. After knocking out British No.1 Jack Draper in the semi-finals Sinner beat American Taylor Fritz in straight sets. The World No.1 won the contest 6-3 6-4 7-5 to cement his place at the best play on the planet.

He is the first Italian man to win a singles title at Flushing Meadows. In contrast Fritz failed to become the first American to win a Grand Slam in 21 years. Andy Roddick was the last person to achieve this feat in 2003.
