World No.1 Jannik Sinner beat Casper Ruud in straight sets in the final of the Italian Open 6-4 6-4. He because the first Italian man to win the tournament since Adriano Panatta in 1976.
The victory also secured Sinner the Golden Masters after he became only the second man after Novak Djokovic to win all nine Masters 1000 events.
The Wimbledon Champion will now enter the French Open on the weekend as the strong favourite to win the title. His closest rival Carlos Alcaraz is currently sidelined with a wrist injury.
