Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam at the Australian Open on Sunday. The Spanish world No.1 beat Novak Djokovic in four sets 2-6 6-2 6-3 7-5 and in the process secured a career Grand Slam at the age of 22. Alcaraz beat the record set by American Don Budge in 1938!
Alcaraz is only the sixth man to achieve the incredible feat after Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nada, Andre Agassi & Rod Laver. He still has a long way to match Djokovic’s overall Grand Slam hall of 24.
Questions were then asked whether Alcaraz could achieve the calendar Grand Slam of winning all four majors in a single year. The last man to complete this feat was Rod Laver in 1969. The next Grand Slam is the French Open where Alcaraz is the current defending champion.
The Wimbledon Championships begin in June where Alcaraz will be looking to regain the title he lost to Jannik Sinner is the 2025 Final.
