The world’s top two men’s tennis players are through to the quarter finals of the Australian Open. Carlos Alcaraz & Jannik Sinner produced dominant displays to secure straight sets victories in their latest matches in Melbourne to book their places in the last eight of the Grand Slam.
Alcaraz is yet to drop a set at the tournament this year and did not face a break point in set two & three against American 19th seed Tommy Paul. The victory secured his 14th Grand Slam quarter-final, which is a new record. The Spaniard surpasses Bjorn Borg & Boris Becker (13) by reaching the most amount of last-eight appearances before turning 23!
Veteran Novak Djokovic is also through to the last eight as a result of a walkover after Jakub Mensik pulled out due to injury. 16th seed Mensik beat American Ethan Quinn in the third round in straight sets but confirmed after the match that he was carrying an injury. The Czech youngster was due to appear in the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time and play in childhood idle in Djokovic.
