Britain’s Arthur Ferry was unable to recreate his Wimbledon heroics at Flushing Meadows after he was knocked out of the US Open in the first round. Ferry was outclassed in straight sets by 13th seed Lorenzo Musetti 6-3 6-3 7-5.
The 24-year-old was catapulted to No.33 in the world after surprisingly reaching the Wimbledon semi-finals in July. Ferry reached his first ATP Tour final at the Winston-Salem Open in the lead-up to the US Open. However, he was beaten by Ignacio Buse.
Musetti is a talented player on court and has appeared in both French Open & Wimbledon semi-finals. Having recently recovered from a thigh injury he will be hoping he is rediscovering his best form at the final Grand Slam of the year.
