World No.1 Jannik Sinner claimed his maiden 温布尔登 title by defeating defending Champion Carlos Alcaraz in four sets.
Sinner came into the match in the midst of a five-match losing streak against Alcaraz. Only 35 days before the Italian had lost to Alcaraz in the final of the French Open. However, he was able to recover from losing the first set to win the contest at SW19 4-6 6-4 6-4 6-4.
The 23-year-old has now won three of the four Grand Slams, only missing the French Open. Sinner’s victory at Wimbledon was also his first major crown away from his favoured hard court surface.
It was the first time Alcaraz has lost a major final and will look for revenge at the US Open which starts in September.
