Medvedev wins Vienna Open

Daniil Medvedev beat Denis Shapovalov in three sets in the final of the Vienna Open to claim his second tour title of the season. The current world No 3 fought back from losing the first set to win the match 4-6 6-3 6-2 at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna. The Russian has now won 15 tour-level titles and seven of these have come on indoor hard courts.

Medvedev’s victory also secures his place in the end of season ATP Final in Turin which takes place next month. The line up already includes Carlos Alcaraz, Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Rafael Nadal & Novak Djokovic.

Elsewhere Auger-Aliassime continued his impressive run of form and claimed the Swiss Indoors title in Basel, beating Holger Rune 6-3 7-5. The victory was his third consecutive ATP Tour title and becomes only the third player this year to win a tournament without dropping a set. The Canadian beat world No 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-final and extends his winning streak to 13 matches.
