Wimbledon draw teases possible Nadal v Djokovic final

The draw for the 2022 Wimbledon Championships has taken place ahead of the start of the tournament on Monday.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic is the top seed in the men’s draw as he bids to secure his 7th Wimbledon title. Incredibly the Serb has not lost a match at SW19 since 2017 and will be a hot favourite to claim the crown this year.

22-time Grand Slam Champion Rafael Nadal has been handed the second seed in the absence of Daniil Medvedev. Medvedev is unable to compete at Wimbledon this year after the organisers banned Russian & Belarusian players due the ongoing conflict in Russia. This means that we could face the mouth-watering prospect of a Nadal v Djokovic final.

Two-time Champion Andy Murray has struggled with injury recently but has declared himself fit and will start his campaign against Australian James Duckworth.

In the ladies draw Emma Raducanu has been seeded No 10 and faces Alison van Uytvanck in the first round. The US Open champion has also been hampered with injury recently but will be hoping to get things back on track when she returns to action next week.

Veteran Serena Williams also makes her long awaited comeback at Wimbledon and the 23-time Grand Slam will play France’s Harmony Tan in her quest for eight title at SW19.
