Alcaraz claims first Queens title to regain No.1 spot ahead of Wimbledon

20-year-old Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz won his first grass-court title at the Queens Club on the weekend. He beat Alex de Minaur 6-4 6-4 in the final in a commanding performance. The US Open Champion is now the new World No.1 overtaking Novak Djokovic in the rankings.

Alcaraz will now be considered a major contender for the Wimbledon Championships which start on Monday. Djokovic is the defending champion at SW19 but will be fully aware of the threat the Spanish youngster possess. The pair last met in the French Open semi-finals when the Serb came out on top after Alcaraz struggled with cramp.

With the absence of 22-time Grand Slam Champion Rafael Nadal and last year’s finalist Nick Kyrgios – all eyes will be on Alcaraz & Djokovic for who will win the most prestigious title in tennis.
