Alcaraz rules in Paris

Carlos Alcaraz secured his maiden French Open title beating Alexander Zverev in Sunday’s final.

The 21-year-old Spaniard was made to work hard for the Roland Garros title as his German opponent took him to five sets in over four hours. The Wimbledon Champion eventually won the match 6-3 2-6 5-7 6-1 6-2. Zverev beat ‘King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal in the first round and was aiming to win his first major title.

The victory means Alcaraz joins his hero Nadal as the only other man to win the French Open under the age of 22. He is also the youngest man to win a Grand Slam on all three surfaces!

Alcaraz will now turn his attention to the grass season and will be hoping to successfully defend his Wimbledon crown. The Wimbledon Championships begin on the 1st July.
