Alexander Zverev Secures Madrid Glory

Canada beat Australia in the final of the Davis Cup in Malaga to win the event for the first time in their history. They got off to a strong start as Denis Shapovalov beat Thanasi Kokkinakis in straight sets 6-2 6-4.

Alexander Zverev finished off a great week in Madrid to secure his 15 ATP title. On route the final the German beat both Rafael Nadal & Dominic Thiem and then battled back from a set down against Matteo Berrettini to win 6-7 (8) 6-4 6-3 to be crowed champion.

Zverev will swiftly turn his attention to the French Open in Roland Garros which begins in a couple of weeks. His critics will question his ability to maintain his level of quality and focus over the Grand Slam five-set format which will be challenged to the limits against the world’s best on the French clay. Nevertheless it was a very impressive performance and thoroughly deserved.
