King of Clay Wins 10th Italian Open

Rafael Nadal continued his incredible clay court dominance by beating world No1 Novak Djokovic in Rome in an enthralling three set battle 7-5 1-6 6-3. After losing the first set Djokovic took control of the second but the Spaniard gained his composure in the decider to claim his 10th Italian crown.

The victory will give Nadal huge confidence leading into the French Open in Paris next week. The Grand Slam has been delayed by one week in a bid to accommodate a limited capacity crowd during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The delay means the gap between the clay court & grass court season is much shorter this year with Wimbledon due to go ahead as planned on 28th June.
