King of Clay Wins 10th Italian Open

Rafael Nadal continued his incredible clay court dominance by beating world No1 Novak Djokovic in Rome in an enthralling three set battle 7-5 1-6 6-3. After losing the first set Djokovic took control of the second but the Spaniard gained his composure in the decider to claim his 10^th Italian crown.

The victory will give Nadal huge confidence leading into the French Open in Paris next week. The Grand Slam has been delayed by one week in a bid to accommodate a limited capacity crowd during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The delay means the gap between the clay court & grass court season is much shorter this year with Wimbledon due to go ahead as planned on 28^th June.
