Andy Murray in Main Draw for US Open After Wawrinka Withdrawal

2012 US Open champion Andy Murray has been handed a place in the main draw of the American Grand Slam after Stan Wawrinka pulled out of the tournament due a foot injury which has required surgery.

Murray’s own fitness has been in question after his withdrawal from the Tokyo Olympics due to a thigh strain. However, it appears that the three time Grand Slam winner will play at Flushing Meadows later this month.

World Number 1 Novak Djokovic is fresh from his victory at Wimbledon last month and is seeking to win all four Grand Slam events this year when he bids for glory in New York. Veterans Roger Federer & Rafael Nadal both have injury issues leading into the tournament and are still yet to confirm if they will play at the event.
