Djokovic claims seventh Wimbledon crown

Novak Djokovic secured a fourth consecutive Wimbledon title on Sunday beating Nick Kyrgios in four sets 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6 (7-3). After losing the first set Djokovic came back in typical determined fashion and ultimately proved too classy for his Australian opponent. The Serb has now won seven Wimbledon Championships and 21 Grand Slam titles in total. He is now only one major behind Rafael Nadal in the race to be considered the greatest player of all time.

The former World No 1 has had a difficult season in 2022 after he was unable to play at the Australian Open in January due to issues surrounding his Covid-19 vaccination status. He does not intend on receiving a vaccination which may hinder his chance to compete at the US Open later this year. Djokovic may therefore have to wait until the French Open in 2023 for his next chance of adding to his Grand Slam haul.
