Emma Raducanu set to make return from wrist & ankle surgery

2021 US Open Champion Emma Raducanu has stepped up her rehabilitation after undergoing wrist & ankle surgery in May. The former British No 1 has been seen on the practice court as she hopes to make a return to competitive tennis in the near future.

The 20-year-old has been plagued with injuries since winning her maiden major title in New York. The operations required on her body earlier in the year meant she was forced to miss the French Open & Wimbledon Championships.

Fans will be encouraged by videos of her hitting tennis balls again with compatriot Kyle Edmund this week. It remains to be seen if she will recover her fitness in time to play at the US Open next month.

The US Open is the final Grand Slam of the year and is played on the hard-court surface. Current World No 1 Iga Swiatek is the Ladies defending Champion at Flushing Meadows and will be the favourite to retain her crown. The 22-year-old added a third French Open title in June to record her fourth major career victory.
