The Monte-Carlo Masters is very much a player and fan favourite on the ATP tour. It symbolises the beginning of the clay season which culminates at the French Open at the end of May.

The event is played at the magnificent Monte-Carlo Country Club in the South of France. The setting for the venue on the French riviera is extremely picturesque and generates a glamorous atmosphere. The historic tournament was founded in 1896 and is rich in tennis history.

Rafael Nadal, regarded as the ‘King of Clay’, has won the event on 11 occasions. He has also won the event on a record eight successive times between 2005-2012. Unfortunately, the 22-time Grand Slam Champion will miss this year’s addition due to injury.

World No.1 Novak Djokovic will be hoping to bounce back from his disappointing exit at Indian Wells last month. Djokovic won the French Open last year so will be hoping to repeat another successful campaign on clay this season.

In form Jannik Sinner will be regarded as the tournament favourite. The Italian won his first Grand Chelem title at the Australian Open in January and followed this with an impressive triumph at Indian Wells.

Wimbledon Champion and World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz could also prove a strong contender to win the crown. However, he has struggled to produce his best form this year after disappointing defeats at the Australian Open & Indian Wells.
