Novak Djokovic Beats Tsitsipas in Epic French Open Final as we Enter the Two-Week Countdown to Wimbledon

World No 1 Novak Djokovic fought back from two sets down to outlast Stefanos Tsitsipas in the French Open final to claim his 19th Grand Slam. After dethroning clay king Rafael Nadal in the semi-final Djokovic was a strong favourite heading into Sunday’s final but found himself in big trouble before charging back to win 6-7 (6-8) 2-6 6-3 6-2 6-4.

The Serb’s last victory in Paris came in 2016 and he has become the first man to win all four Grand Slams twice in the Open era. It also takes Djokovic to within one major title behind Roger Federer & Rafael Nadal who both have a total of 20 slams overall.

We now enter the grass court season and the eyes of the tennis world will focus on London as the Queen’s Club Championships begin this week and the Wimbledon Championships, which start on 28th June. Wimbledon is the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world but was cancelled last year for the first time since World Was II due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. It will therefore be a special occasion to have tennis back at SW19 this summer!
