Raducanu Returns to Action at the Transylvania Open

British teenage sensation Emma Raducanu will attempt to win her first tennis match since claiming the US Open Grand Slam title when she returns to the court at the Transylvania Open this week. It will be the first time she has played a professional tournament in Romania, which is where her father Ian was born. She has asked people to be ‘patient’ in her development despite her remarkable performance at Flushing Meadows in New York last month.

Amazingly Raducanu is still waiting for her first victory in a WTA event. She has won matches at the US Open & Wimbledon which are two of the biggest tournaments in world tennis. However, she lost in the opening round in Nottingham, San Diego & Indian Wells.

The US Open champion is still without a full-time coach after parting company with Andrew Richardson who helped guide her to Grand Slam glory in New York. Raducanu has stated that she hopes to appoint someone before the Australian Open, which is due to start on 17th January 2022 in Melbourne.
