Emma Raducanu Fights Back to Win Her First Ever WTA Tour Match & Delights Locals by Speaking Romanian!

Canada beat Australia in the final of the Davis Cup in Malaga to win the event for the first time in their history. They got off to a strong start as Denis Shapovalov beat Thanasi Kokkinakis in straight sets 6-2 6-4.

US Open Champion Emma Raducanu secured her maiden WTA Tour victory on Tuesday after staging a gutsy comeback against Polona Hercog in the first round of the Transylvania Open. The British teenager displayed glimpses of her grit and determination which catapulted her into a global superstar in New York last month. She was leading 4-1 before surrendering the opening set to her Slovenian opponent. Raducanu then came firing back in the second and dominated the deciding set to emerge victorious 4-6 7-5 6-1.

Perhaps the biggest cheer of the evening came in the post-match interview when Raducanu delighted the locals by speaking in the local language. Her father is from Romania and she was gave a small address in Romanian much to the appreciation to those in attendance.
