Swiatek dismantles Sabalenka to win Italian Open

World No.1 Iga Swiatek completed another impressive display to win the Italian Open by beating Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets. The 22-year-old had survived an epic encounter a couple of weeks ago against Sabalenka to win the Madrid Open. However, on this occasion she was far too strong for the Belarusian and blitzed her way to victory 6-2 6-3.

The victory was her 21st career title and cemented her place as the best player in the world.

Attention will now turn to Roland Garros and the French Open in Paris. The second Grand Slam of the year will complete the clay-court season before the tour heads to the green grass of Wimbledon.
