Swiatek hammers Pegula to claim WTA Finals title

Canada beat Australia in the final of the Davis Cup in Malaga to win the event for the first time in their history. They got off to a strong start as Denis Shapovalov beat Thanasi Kokkinakis in straight sets 6-2 6-4.

Iga Swiatek reinforced herself as the world no.1 tennis player in the ATP Finals against Jessica Pegula. The Polish star hammered the American 6-1 6-0 in Cancun to overtake Aryna Sabalenka at the top of the world rankings.

The 22-year-old is the youngest WTA Finals champion since Petra Kvitova won in 2011 at the age of 21. The four-time Grand Slam Champion will be hoping for more major success next season at the Australian Open which starts in January.
