Djokovic wins 40th Masters title in Paris

Novak Djokovic won a record seventh Paris Masters title on Sunday. The 36-year-old beat Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets 6-4 6-3 in the final.

The victory means the Serb has tightened his grip on the World No.1 spot. He is battling Spanish rival Carlos Alcaraz to end the year at the top of the world rankings. Wimbledon Champion Alcaraz has struggled for form in recent weeks and faces an uphill task to dethrone Djokovic before the end of 2023.

Despite being in the twilight years of his career Djokovic has won 33 matches on hard courts this season and only lost once. He has also won three Grand Slams this year to extend his incredible major haul to a record extending 24 titles.

The next tournament for Djokovic will be the end of season ATP Tour Finals in Turin.
