Things Heating up in Melbourne as Novak & Rafa Through but Konta Injured

It has been a busy start to the Australian Open with most of the big guns progressing. However, Johanna Konta was unfortunately forced to retire in her first round match due to an abdominal injury. Things went better for Heather Watson as she overcame Kristyna Pliskova in straight sets.

One notable exit in the men’s draw was former champion Stan Wawrinka who lost a five set battle to Marton Fucsovics. Cameron Norrie won the battle of Brits as he beat British No 1 Dan Evans in four sets.

In typical Australian Open fashion the weather in Melbourne is looking hot for the next couple days with temperatures expected to reach over 30 degrees on Thursday. This may prove difficult for the players looking to book their places into the second week of the first Grand Slam of 2021.
