Djokovic Pulls Through to Reach Semis Down Under. Serena Hammers Halep

Canada beat Australia in the final of the Davis Cup in Malaga to win the event for the first time in their history. They got off to a strong start as Denis Shapovalov beat Thanasi Kokkinakis in straight sets 6-2 6-4.

World No 1 Novak Djokovic demonstrated his relentless sporting spirit to turn around numerous setbacks in his match with Alexander Zverev to reach the semi finals of the Australian Open. Djokovic lost the first set and was 4-1 down in the third before finally prevailing 6-7(6-8), 6-2, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6). He will now face Russian qualifier, Aslan Karatsev for a place in Sunday’s final.

Meanwhile Serena Williams proved she is still a major force in the sport by dismantling second seed Simona Halep to set up a semi final against US Open champion Naomi Osaka. This will undoubtedly be one of the most hotly anticipated matches in the women’s draw.
