New Men’s Champion at ATP Finals 2020

New ATP Finals champion Daniil Medvedev became the first player in the 50-year history of the competition to beat the world’s leading players at the same event. Beating Dominic Thiem in the final the Russian is hoping that some of the younger players on the Tour will continue to pressure the dominance of the ‘big three’ of Djokovic, Nadal & Federer in 2021. Speaking after his victory the champion said; “we managed to both beat Rafa & Novak, which is an amazing accomplishment’.

As the final chapter of a strange 2020 closes, time will tell if the dominance of the Grand Slam veterans will be threatened further in 2021. The growing optimism for the return of stadium crowds with certainly be welcome news for fan favourites Federer & Nadal but it will be fascinating to see if the new crop can finally topple the sport’s long reigning champions.
