PM’s Roadmap to Crowds at Wimbledon 2021

This week Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that he is hopeful to allow spectators at sporting events in England by 17th May and progress to full capacity crowds by 21st June. The world’s most prestigious tennis event is due to begin at SW19 on 28th June and organisers are cautiously optimistic that this year’s Wimbledon Championships will take place with full stands this summer. The success of the vaccine roll out has led to ‘roadmap’ to normality being laid out by the PM which has provided much needed buoyancy across the country.

A statement from the AELTC included the following; ‘We welcome the government’s announcements today and we look forward to continuing to work with them and the rest of sport with the ambition of welcoming spectators safely to our events this summer. We will continue to plan based on our aspiration of staging the best Championships possible with the health and safety of all our guests, staff and competitors remaining our highest priority.’
