Rune stuns Djokovic to win Paris Masters

Teenager Holger Rune produced an inspired performance to beat Wimbledon Champion Novak Djokovic in the final of the Paris maters 3-6 6-3 7-5. The Danish teenager recovered from losing the first set to comeback and beat the former World No 1 and catapult himself into the top 10 in the world.

Rune becomes the youngest winner of the Paris tournament since Boris Becker in 1986. His impressive run to the final includes victories against Andrey Rublev and World No 1 Carlos Alcaraz.

Alcaraz was forced to retire in his quarter finals match against Rune with an abdominal muscle injury. The setback means he will miss the season ending finale at the ATP Finals and Spain’s Davis Cup tie. He will be extremely disappointed to miss the Davis Cup event which is due to take place in his home country in Malaga later this month.

The Spanish teenager retired from his Paris Masters quarter-final match against Holger Rune with a Alcaraz has also been forced to withdraw from the Davis Cup Finals where he was due to represent Spain.
