SW19 Builds up for Finals Weekend

Canada beat Australia in the final of the Davis Cup in Malaga to win the event for the first time in their history. They got off to a strong start as Denis Shapovalov beat Thanasi Kokkinakis in straight sets 6-2 6-4.

The world’s most prestigious tennis tournament draws to a close this weekend as Wimbledon gets ready to crown their men’s & ladies’ champion for 2021.

Thursday’s action will see world no 1 Ashleigh Barty battle German Angelique Kerber in the first ladies semi final with Karolina Pliskova vs Aryna Sabalenka second up on Centre Court.

Barty is the strong favourite to claim the grand slam but time will tell whether we will we see a surprise champion crowned in Saturday’s final?

The men’s semi finals will be without fan’s favourite Roger Ferrer as he suffered a somewhat shock defeat to Hubert Hurkacz in the quarters. Hurkacz will face Canadian Denis Shapovalov for a place in Sunday’s final. In the other semi final world no 1 and defending champion Novak Djokovic will play Matteo Berrettini. Fresh from his victory at the French Open last month Djokovic will be extremely confident of securing a record equalling 20th Grand Slam title.
