Djokovic, Nadal & Alcaraz included in blockbuster Indian Wells line-up

Canada beat Australia in the final of the Davis Cup in Malaga to win the event for the first time in their history. They got off to a strong start as Denis Shapovalov beat Thanasi Kokkinakis in straight sets 6-2 6-4.

The tournament recognised as the ‘Fifth Major’ will take place next week at Indian Wells Tennis Garden and looks set to include the sport’s biggest names.

The BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells is a regarded as one of the prestigious tournaments on tour. The facility is based in Palm Springs, California and the venue’s ‘Stadium 1’ is the second largest outdoor tennis stadium in the world.

Organisers of the event have now released the players expected to compete at the event. After a 5-year absence World No.1 Novak Djokovic is returning to the competition and will be looking to secure an unprecedented sixth title.

Djokovic will be joined by 23-time Grand Slam Champion Rafael Nadal who missed the Australian Open last month due to injury. Nadal will be hoping to build some momentum at Indian Wells ahead of his favourite Grand Slam at the French Open in May.

Wimbledon Champion and World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz will also be included in the line-up. Alcaraz won the title last year after beating Daniil Medvedev in the final. After a disappointing campaign at the Australian Open the young Spaniard will be determined to defend his crown in California.

In the woman’s draw, World No.1 Iga Swiatek has been included in the field. Swiatek will be vying for her second Indian Wells title after losing in the semi-finals last year to Elena Rybakina. Rybakina went on to win the tournament in 2024 and will be one of the favourites to retain the crown again this year.
